THIS is the girl CALIFORNIA chose to represent itself at the Miss USA pageant?
I could understand if she was Miss Texas just representin’ her southern bible-abidin’ values… but she’s Miss California…
Poor Perez, I’m sure he was looking for a little gay marriage rally but instead the crowd cheered way more for her response than they did for his question!
Anyway, I don’t agree with her in the least bit… but she said how she feels with confidence and spoke her mind, at least she wasn’t phony.

1Good for her for speaking her mind and not being afraid to answer the question honestly. It shouldn’t matter what she believes or if she’s for or against it, every person is entitled to their opinion and their right to express it.

3First off let me say my wifre turned me onto this silly web site – and I must admit I do like checking out the pictures, even though it is all useless nonsense. In regard the Dana’s brilliant comment about the lady being from California and not from Texas – and thus Dana is surprised about the “ant” gay marriage” sentiment, remember this oh bright one Dana: The issue was recently put to a public vote in California – and it was VOTED DOWN. The public voted AGAINST gay marriage, as they did in Iowa, but it does not matter the court system comes in and in certain cases reinstates the law – though not in California yet anyway. So go ahead and assume most of the Nation agrees with gay marriage, when in fact when put to a vote it fails. Dana was right about one thing however – it is good to speak your mind – in your case Dana just have your facts in order.

4I agree, at least she was herself. This seems like a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” kind of question. I mean nobody was going to be happy with whatever she said. I kind of wish Perez had asked a different question. I feel like that is his only issue, that it is getting drilled into my brain and I’m sick of it. If I stick to MY personal relationship and worry about myself than it really doesn’t affect me…so why do I have to listen to the issue over and over and over again.
I get that it is personal with him, but it even bugged me to read on his site that “the whole world is talking about it.” Actually, I think most people were like “Whatever” and went back to their business. Maybe HIS whole world is talking about it. The world I know doesn’t even watch this type of show on TV, let alone care what a single woman said. She said something truthfully, that was her opinion. Lots of people have opinions that we filter out daily. Just let it go…
And I’m not surprised that California picked her to represent. Why wouldn’t they pick somebody who obviously represents the majority? (And if anti same sex marriage people WEREN’T the majority, prop 8 would have had a different outcome!) I’m glad she had the balls to say what she did. She reminded them that they have the right to disagree with her, and she has the right to disagree with them, and that she loves her country because there is choice here. I thought she was very in-offensive about it and handled herself very gracefully. She wasn’t rude to people, she was apologetic if she hurt anybody’s feelings but she asserted herself and her opinion. I cannot imagine being calm or composed if I were asked that question. I don’t even usually like to discuss my opinion on it in private, let alone on TV! It had to make it harder that it was Perez and she knew he was a popular celebrity! She was probably terrified of backlash in either direction, but going up against a popular celeb was probably making her wonder if she said the right thing or not! I felt really bad for her, having to deal with that, actually.
There’s my two cents!

5I should clarify…it isn’t that it doesn’t affect me. Its just that if I worry about myself and don’t put my nose in other’s business, they I wouldn’t be stopping Perez from doing whatever he feels he needs to do in his relationships, either! I just think we should worry about ourselves…

6I think that Perez should have asked a different question. It’s obvious that he was just asking the question to look for the answer he wanted, not to get the contestants true opinion. I too think she did a good job at answering.

7PH only asked that question because he knew the answer would get a reaction no matter what it was.
Why was he even a judge? Aren’t girls icky to him?

8I usually like to read your site, and you usually say pretty funny things that I agree with, but this Miss CA thing is getting ridiculous. I am SO sick of hearing about it. I am pro-gay marriage, but frankly, this was just another thing for the gays to freak about and have a little pity party over. My god, the point was to ask a question, which Perez did, and have it truthfully answered, which she did. He is a liar when he says he just wanted to hear from her “each state should get to choose” and he would be happy. Well, CA did choose. It chose no to gay marriage.
“I could understand if she was Miss Texas just representin’ her southern bible-abidin’ values… but she’s Miss California…”
So wait, if she was from TX, her answer would be ok because obviously, if she lives in CA, she can’t have biblical values? Just us stupid Texans have an excuse for our backwoods, bible beating ways, eh? Furthermore, CA has TWICE had a gay marriage bill come up to the Governor and it was vetoed. Twice. CA also elected a Republican Governor…sooo…why is it so surprising for her to have more conservative values?
And no one is talking about the girl who answered “integrity” 50 times but didn’t answer the question asked? At least CA answered in complete sentences.

9Yeah you guys are right, I wasn’t thinking about the fact that CA vetoed it twice… I guess I just think of CA as a pretty liberal state with San Francisco and LA and all the celebrities that are so liberal… so that was just my not thinking before I wrote… but the fact remains, it’s sad that people can’t just live and let live, and that everyone can’t have the same rights.

10The sad thing in all of this is that just because she didn’t answer the way Perez Hilton wanted her too, he went off calling her a B&*$%! Good for her for speaking her beliefs and not answering just what she thought the judges wanted to hear. Perez Hilton is a hypocrite! Personally I don’t believe in same sex marriage either and if asked by ANYONE I would say just that.

11The thing is though, the Miss USA should not be about HOW she feels about an issue, but how she answered the question. Regardless of her view, I think she handled herself perfectly and I think it’s sad that she was penalized for the answer.
Also, Perez is the biggest freaking hypocrite I have ever seen. He was doing the rounds in the last couple days saying how he thinks Miss USA needs to be politically correct blah blah blah. Um, this is coming from the man who draws penises on 16 year old Miley Cyrus; face? Give me a break. I have to say that I used to read his site and I also followed him on Twitter. No more, I think it was horrible that he ruined that girls chances of winning just to push his agenda.
