What is she exploring these days? THE MALL?
How do you feel about the new Dora? Do you think she’s too thin? I mean I guess now her head is a little more proportioned to her body, but I think she could be a LITTLE healthier. Better than the scrawny Disney princesses!
I just hope she still explores… and are they going to try to use her to teach about the birds and bees and stuff, or drugs, or other things? I guess that’s up to us as parents huh??
Anyway, I just had to share. I will have to find out what Kyla thinks of the new Dora. She’ll be here in less than 2 weeks we can’t wait!!

1More importantly…how will her hair hold up in the jungle? Huh?

2I kept hearing about this, but this is the first time I’ve seen the picture. Wow, I think they should have left her alone. She doesn’t look like she is ready to go exploring at all.

3horrific. i would think that the idea behind cartoons is that they stay the same but the audience ages out. not that the cartoon character ages out and leaves some of her audience behind…

5Ok in all fairness I read that this new older Dora is a direct result of mothers. They were noticing that as their daughters got older they were no longer interested in the “Baby Dora”. Mothers really liked the message that Dora offered their children and just wanted them to still be interested in her. So along came a “tween” Dora to help her maturing followers still be able to relate. I actually think she looks cute, nothing at all like I have heard she looked like. Man the news made her out to be a freakin street walker. Lighten up people………

6The girls I used to babysit would watch Dora all the time – and I thought that she was fine as she was… I can completely understand wanting Dora to be a bit more mature so that she could be followed as her fans were getting older but I don’t think that this new and “improved” image is going work well.
And yes – Dora will now be exploring the malls. She is in such for the new Coach purse, the newest Steve Madden shoes – all while making sure that she stops at Forever 21 for a pair of skinny jeans. I mean, she is Dora the Explorer!

7I think she’s cute! Way better than I was thinking after everyone freaked out that the “Bratz” people were redesigning her….

9I read somewhere that the new Dora will focus on solving mysteries. They aren’t getting rid of the old Dora, but they are just adding the new Dora for the older girls. There are all these great, wholesome options for little girls, but once they get to tweenage, it starts getting skanky. I think this is a nice alternative. I would have liked to have seen her retain a bit of her pudge, but she looks proportionate.
