Woo hoo!
Since someone posted a comment about my lack of election coverage (since this is after all a political blog) I figured I would share this picture of our president-elect leaving the gym.
I’m very excited about this too… But it was way more fun making fun of Sarah Palin, and it looks like she isn’t going anywhere since the Republican party is apparently going to try to make her the next big figurehead of the GOP… it’s laughable.
I’m sure she’s a nice lady and smart in her own way, but come on…
Back to the Obama Presidency – it is very cool to me… I got choked up watching his speech… There is a renewed sense of hope, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that gas prices are almost 1/2 what they’ve been for the last year… I think just the hope and the idea that things are going to change will itself stimulate change… but whatever. I don’t really talk politics much because I’m much better at making fun of celebrities and gushing over Violet Affleck.
So I’ll stick to that, but yes – I do believe this election was important and we are living in a very exciting time.

1if you think its a coincidence that gas prices have gone down because of our renewed “hope” – then it is also a coincidence that the stock market has gone down the crapper since Obama was elected. We all know the economy is a wreck but the stock market has closed up and down lately however, historically after elections, stocks will go up regardless of the economy bc of optomistic opportunities…. what does this say – i dont think everyone sees this hope….

2The stock market has been going down the crapper for a lot longer than a week… I was watching an interview with John McCain on election day – it may have been previously recorded – and he said we can not spread the wealth around… something to that effect… It was a very telling statement. I understand to a small degree how that economic philosophy seems all good and nice… but it just doesn’t work. You can’t keep cutting jobs left and right to keep more money in the pockets of the people at the top and expect the economy to continue thriving… these people have hoarded all the money, laid off TONS of people who now can’t afford to put anything back into the economy, and now the rich aren’t even really getting richer anymore because they’ve exhausted the poor people’s supply… I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else, but the way things have been going for the last several years with job cut after job cut and budget cut after budget cut… the money saved is going into someone’s pocket… and it isn’t the guy who just lost his job.
Anyway there’s no simple solution, but I think Obama is a lot more than the lesser of two evils like in most political elections. The guy really stands to change the world – it has already changed… I’m not quite sure what anyone thinks McCain would have done, but keeping all the wealth in one place isn’t going to help anyone in the long run. All of these people are losing their shirts in the stock market because of their own greed!! These companies are losing money because they’ve cut so many jobs people can’t afford to buy their products anymore… I know it is not nearly this simple but it makes sense to me.

5I cannot believe that a muslim is going to be our next president. Not only is he a muslim but he was not even born in the U.S. he was born in Kenya! His own grandmother said that! If he really wanted to disprove this then he would of have provided a birth certificate a long time ago… makes you wonder whats stopping him. And because he is now president I think I’m going to quit my job and start living off of everybody else’s paycheck. Why the hell should I help someone who doesn’t have a job?!? Don’t get me wrong I’m all for helping the elderly and disabled but it angers me that my hard earned money goes to people that refuse to work and bred kids like goats. This really sickens me!

6I really highly dislike Obama. Mainly because I know he’s going to raise taxes and the fact that I’m jewish just scares me because he has had dinners, etc. with jew haters, america haters, etc. He was even in Wright’s (I believe) church for 20+ years… and he is the worst jew, american hater. I’m disgusted by this choice.

7While I don’t think that Obama is the reason that gas prices went down, I am excited by the choice.
The Republicans can no longer convince me that the “trickle down” effect is the way to strengthen our economy. That sort of thinking has created a near-monopoly, which scares the hell out of me.
No one particular party can be completely blamed for the economy. Not the banks, not the shareholders, not the CEO’s, not the people who bought homes they couldn’t afford. They all have one thing in common. GREED. We have become a disgracefully wasteful & greedy country and that greed needs to be reeled in.
We need a leader who can rally this country and convince the people that we can stand together and fix the fiasco we’re in. When you’re in the fiasco we are in, people look to youth, vitality, intelligence & progressive thinking…and that’s why we voted in Obama.
But damn…he has a HUGE job ahead of him!
On another note, I’d like to say that i think it’s BS that if I bounce a check, my bank charges me $25, but if they are irresponsible, our government will bail them out. Our government that is in nearly a trillion in the red. Why do they get to overspend?

8You’ve got to be kidding me. He has NOTHING to do with gas prices. If he was the messiah, then the stock market would be booming as well. Gas prices go down after EVERY summer. Why does everybody forget that? They rake us over the coals every summer just to get more money; when summer is over, the gas prices plummet. Happens every year, even if Osama isn’t in office.

16Just because people are against Obama doesn’t mean that we are ignorant and disgruntled. I think that’s a very closed minded ignorant statement to make. I am against him for many reasons (not because he’s black or a Democrat) but just simply because I disagree with his positions on many issues BUT that’s the beauty of our country. We are free to choose and we should all just agree to disagree. I do believe it was a mistake that Obama was voted in and I am a hardcore McCain fan but it happened so all we can do is deal with it and pray that he does the best he can do to help fix our country :) There’s no reason for name calling or calling anyone ignorant and disgruntled. That’s VERY childish Dana!

17I love your site and I am happy to know that you recognize the history making achievement for our country that was made when Barack Obama was elected…..but
You say you only want to “gush over Violet Affeck” but how come you never gush over Sasha and Malia Obama who are sooooo adorable…
Today you posted a pic of the President Elect leaving the gym alone but chose not to post the pick of him dropping off his adorable daughters at school and receiving the sweetest hug and kisses from them prior to flying to DC to meet at the White House. I would have love to see those pics on your site which I know were available because it shows the dedication of our President elect to his country, family, health, etc. In one day he took his kids to school , worked out, spent time with his wife, and flew to DC to meet at the White House, and flew back to have dinner with his family.
It would also be nice to see more diversity on your sight in general, what about the other celebrity babies of other cultures (with the exception of the blended Joilie-Pitt family) here are so many beautiful celebrity babies of color that I never see on your site and its unfortunate because I like your site but have to seek out other sights just to see a representation of the total celebrity world. Ths includes Latino/Latina Americans, Asian Americans, African Americans ,etc. Please continu to expand your mind and your site. You have loyal readers who happen to have other cultural interests other than White Americans.

18Bigots like “Whitey” hiding on the internet to make their 19th century society statements scare me more than Obama, that’s for sure. I’m disgusted with how many of those came out after election day. Maybe the subject of racism is rammed down our throats day in and day out because of hateful people like you who can’t assimilate to modern times.
This man will be your PRESIDENT and I’m guessing you are the same ones the cried “unpatriotic” when someone was vocal about Bush.
Oooooo…he’s black with a muslim name…must be a terrorist. His middle name is HUSSEIN…HUSSEIN…oh GOD, HUSSEIN. It just terrifies me to even type it out.
All sarcasm aside, Sarah Palin as president (sure to happen with cancer-riddled McCain) would be a nightmare on Pennsylvania St. “Oh hey der Mr. Putin. How ’bout I bake you up a batch of dem cookies if you keep those doggone Russians out of Georgia? I’ll order Alaska’s best baseball pitcher to hurl ‘em on over to Russia for ya.”

19Loyal Reader,
I would love to see those pictures of Obama’s kids… I did not see them, so I didn’t really choose not to post them – as I have said before, I can only afford to use one photo agency right now so I post what I find interesting from their selection…
As for the lack of children of other races – I would gladly post pictures of Halle Berry’s baby, I do post Heidi Klum’s kids when I see pictures of them, I haven’t really seen many other kids pictures besides Suri, Violet, Suri, Violet, etc… but it isn’t intentional that you mostly see white babies. Maybe since the photo agency is a UK company they focus more on white people? I don’t know… I will try to be aware of it but I really don’t think about race one way or the other when I post pictures…
Sorry… I hope you’ll continue to visit and you can always email me if you find something cool you think I should post – danasdirt@danasdirt.com and if I can post them legally I will.
Thanks!
Dana
