I just posted this reply to the comments on my posting of the link to the Heath Ledger Drug Video… Because yes, it’s pretty much known as the Heath Ledger Drug Video – there are people doing drugs and talking about drugs in the video… Anyway, I’ve gotten a ton of comments and emails and messages from people who are mad, or have “lost respect” for me because I posted the link to the footage… Take a minute to read what I have to say… I think you’re missing the point and my feelings on this whole thing!
Here’s my response to the comments…
I really don’t get why there is so much outrage over this. There wasn’t this much outrage over the posting of naked pictures of Vanessa Hudgens!! And that’s a young girl completely exposed!!! But someone leaks footage of a dead actor and it’s so wrong and unethical… please. What about the pictures of Anna Nicole with her dead son??? Those were far worse and far more disturbing… but because Heath was a pretty well respected actor to begin with, and his life hadn’t already been all over the tabloids and belittled, it’s “outrageousâ€â€¦
Yes, his death – regardless of what caused it – was tragic… anyone who dies before their time, especially when they have young children, is tragically lost… but this video footage isn’t the most horrible thing to ever be released, nor is it all that incriminating!
I’m not posting it and saying “oooh look at Heath, he must have been a total coke head, he must have been doing drugs and he obviously had a secret drug battle…â€

In fact, I believe I said the OPPOSITE – and you’re right – this video is ridiculous – it doesn’t really show him doing or saying anything all that horrible!!!
If you go back and read my post from last week when I posted the promo with a little bit of the footage in it, I DEFENDED Heath!!
I’m going to copy this and post it to the main page, and put a link to my other posts on the matter, because you’re accusing me of saying what all the other tabloids are saying – AND I AM ACTUALLY SAYING LOOK AT THE VIDEO AND SEE JUST HOW RIDICULOUS THIS SMEAR CAMPAIGN IS!!
Seriously, stop faking outrage at the wrong thing… The video is not SHOCKING, it’s stupid. Heath’s not shown doing ANYTHING… and if he had done something, would they have cut it out?? NO! Heath didn’t snort cocaine in the video, and he probably didn’t do it that night… he talks about how he used to smoke 5 joints a day but HE DOESN’T ANYMORE!!! So freaking what if the guy liked to smoke weed??? And he’s talking about his daughter a LOT, he was a great dad, and a good person, clearly, and my posting this video has nothing to do with anyone’s attempt to prove he was a drug addict or a bad guy!!
Does anyone get that???
And here’s a copy and paste of what I wrote last week when I first posted about the video and posted the promo video…
We’ll see… I mean, if the guy smoked a bunch of weed, so what… I don’t necessarily condone that, but it doesn’t mean he overdosed or killed himself by any means. Even if he did some coke – which I definitely despise – it doesn’t mean he overdosed or killed himself. The most likely explanation to me – he was sick, couldn’t rest, and took medications he shouldn’t have been taking together and it had tragic consequences… but from what we’ve learned of him it just doesn’t seem like he was a serious drug addict or someone who wanted out. Just the fact that he was on that video acknowledging that he should be upstairs with his girl and baby shows he had a conscience about it… Of course the people closest to him know the truth – I’m sure Michelle Williams, Jake, whoever he was closest to, know in their hearts what went wrong but we’ll never know.
I just think it is really sick how all these news agencies are doing everything in their power to beef up the scandal side of it…

1I think that the video needed to be shown because the news agencies made it seem like this huge video of Heath doing drugs but that is clearly not the case AT ALL. The news agencies cut out what they wanted everyone to think of Heath and THAT IS WRONG!! They cut out the parts of him saying he smoked weed but they didnt play the part that said he doesn’t do it anymore and how he has a daughter. I think that people needed to see that this tape was nothing more then a smear campaign. But after seeing the tape everyone should realize that he just loved his daughter. That is the only thing he talked about through this whole video…How that little girl changed his life and that is something to be proud of. So to the news agencies that made it seem that he was this drug addict SHAME ON YOU!! To everyone who has not seen the video WATCH IT!!! HE SEEMS LIKE A WONDERFUL FATHER!!! I think Dana was not wrong to post the video because now people know for a fact THAT HE NEVER DID DRUGS IN THIS VIDEO PERIOD.

She warned everyone. The title infact says what its about. I didnt watch it, because quite frankly I didn’t care enough to watch it, and I don’t have speakers on this computer. Even if I did have speakers I wouldn’t have because what happened while he was alive doesn’t change anything now, and it wouldn’t change a damned thing.
Talking about getting your panties in a bunch ! This is a celebrity gossip blog. Like many of you have said she had every right to post this, she has every right to post anything she feels she wants to because its her site. But to state that you lost respect for her and felt it was low of her? YOu are the ones who watched it, and if you really watched it, you’d have seen nothing wrong right? from what comments were from other above posters..and dayna. He talked about his daughter. He has spoken about his past drug use. It doesn’t make his drug use any better, but it makes him human.
Infact, how many celebs are out there doing the same thing, just not having enough balls to admit it, or at least get caught?
for example..Look at Ozzy. He’s so fucked up from past drug use, he can’t even be understood half the time cause he just mummbles and gosh he got his own tv show! was that in MTV’s bad taste to air his show? who knows, I enjoyed the show myself, because who am I to judge others that quickly?
Seriously. If the autopsy report had said he died from an overdose, perhaps half of you wouldn’t be defending him right? You’d say “oh well, if he was doing that and overdosed, phooey on him”???
He was exhausted, heart broken from his break up with Michelle and all the man probably wanted was to get some fucking sleep. Seriously! Have you never yourselves been at the point of exhaustion and find yourself not being able to sleep? and you wish just anything would work at that given time?
he took meds that perhaps shouldn’t have been taken in combination. sleep deprivation screws with your mind, you don’t make wise decisions, you don’t do the smart things because your brain is basically “drunk” and unable to think clearly.
I feel that perhaps some of you people who are really just looking out for whats best in this situation, and that’s great, to defend what really seems right.
Some of the people out there have nothing better to do than critisize others for their actions and their beliefs and the whole thing was misunderstood as Dayna clearly wrote explanations.
now honestly. Continue to support Heath and his family, but understand the whole topic and subject of this matter, and give Dana a break.

I have been reading your blog for a long time and I really enjoy the way you write. I didn’t post a comment before, but today I have to say I totally agree with your post about Heath Ledger. have you seen Two Hands? If you you see that movie you can see what a great person he was and that Brokeback Mountain didn’t really do any justice to his great acting talent. I think he was beeing exploited by the movie industry and he was stressed trying to do his job, the only one he had. He probably just wanted to sleep well so he would be fit for his job. I watched Two Hands only a few days ago even though I had in my cupboard for years. I lived in Sydney near King’s Cross were some of the movie is set. So watching it feels very close to home. Anyway I just want to say your website is great and funny and I really enjoy reading it.

6i truly feel if it is a tape out then so be it. at the end of the day however he died is none of our concern. if he was on drugs which i believe to be true even with out the tape then his death could of been avoided its like if you have a family member who is on drugs you know there is a slight chance they could die before their time same as heath ledger. weather there is a tape or not or it he was a druggie or not that is between him and his maker… i would of posted the tape you are here to be objective and if not on you’re site then surely some where else…..keep up the good work

8I agree 100%. I love how people can turn their own actions into someone else’s issue. If it is so disturbing or blah blah blah then why click and watch. It did not automatically start playing when you came to this page so the bottom line is that we all have/had the option to watch and those who did who are upset…chill out and be mad at yourselves for watching. You could have scrolled right on passed it but instead just like a lot of us you watched it!!

9why is it called the Heath Ledger DRUG video? If he didnt do drugs in it (I havent watched), then why isnt it just a clip of his life. the stigma of it all seems to be in the name of the video, not the content. the title is misleading, and implies its content, whether it be true or not.

10I agree with Dana, not only because she is within every right that she has as a celebrity gosip blogger to post a video which is being called the Heath Ledger drug video (Heath Ledger is in it and there are drugs, that is why it is named as such) but also because there are people that want to see it.
She should not have to defend her decision at all to do such a thing.
The video is clearly not nearly as disturbing as pictures of Anna Nicole Smith after her son’s death, yet they were posted all over the internet – and to my recollection they weren’t here.
I think you, Dana, handled this amazingly well – especially when you rad other celebrity gossip sites and while they “mounred” they also smeared Heath Ledger’s image. You did not, you give the facts and your opinion in a good light.

13I still don’t think it was cool of you to post the video, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop coming to your site.
I think the difference between this and the Anna Nicole death is that she lived her life in the circus of the media.
I get the curiousity behind it, and that’s natural. But what I don’t get is other people who came here ready to bash us who are against posting this video by calling us “idiots” or anything else. It’s okay for you to have your opinions of the vidoe, but not us? Okay then.
I still stand by MY OPINION that I don’t think this video should be posted (anywhere, not just here) and you for sure haven’t lost a reader in me…I just wish you had some more mature fans. At least you didn’t take that road, D*ana. That’s what puts you above the others.

14Dana didn’t do anything wrong by posting the video. If it had leaked the the press when Heath was still alive all the people saying how horrible it was to view it would have been on here posting comments about him being “Bad”. You can have respect for the dead and still see their life for what it was.

I feel badly for Heath’s family, and I pray that they will have peace and comfort knowing that he loved them.

16I absolutely agree with Gina. I don’t like that its posted anywhere. I am aware that I read a celebrity gossip site and that its not ‘the epitome of class’ And I didn’t watch the video, like some people are suggesting that the people who don’t really approve of it have. I am a regular visitor, and I love this site. A lot of people post rude things to Dana on a lot of things, and I’m sure haven’t been called idiots and the like. Obviously Dana was able to defend her own actions and didn’t need people to write rude comments on her behalf.
Voicing one’s opinion does not make them an idiot. But I guess if it does, then those who posted the rude comments in her defence, are also idiots. That’s great.
I appreciate Dana, that you took the time to justify yourself. Go you!
