A video taken at a SAG Awards after party in 2006 shows Heath Ledger talking to other celebrities admitting he smoked 5 joints a day for 20 years… he also says his girlfriend is going to kill him because they just had a baby three months ago, and it apparently shows a man snorting drugs off a table.
UPDATE: I found part of the promo - it’s worth watching.
Here are a few screen shots I found on the NY Daily News website… You can click the link for the rest of the story.
A TV station in Australia is set to run the video tonight despite an uproar from the Hollywood community… Entertainment Tonight was also going to run the video but they decided not to for now - even though they supposedly paid $200,000 for it.
We’ll see… I mean, if the guy smoked a bunch of weed, so what… I don’t necessarily condone that, but it doesn’t mean he overdosed or killed himself by any means. Even if he did some coke - which I definitely despise - it doesn’t mean he overdosed or killed himself. The most likely explanation to me - he was sick, couldn’t rest, and took medications he shouldn’t have been taking together and it had tragic consequences… but from what we’ve learned of him it just doesn’t seem like he was a serious drug addict or someone who wanted out. Just the fact that he was on that video acknowledging that he should be upstairs with his girl and baby shows he had a conscience about it… Of course the people closest to him know the truth - I’m sure Michelle Williams, Jake, whoever he was closest to, know in their hearts what went wrong but we’ll never know.
I just think it is really sick how all these news agencies are doing everything in their power to beef up the scandal side of it…
What are your thoughts?

1I completely agree with you, let him rest in peace………. What ever the case is he was way to young and had his whole life ahead of him yet. I think that all the tabloids and news people should have there life exploited once for the whole world to judge them and see how much it hurts!!!

2I think its completely disgusting and disrespectful that the media are turning a really tragic loss into a hyped up scandal and that they are following his family and michelle and the baby at a really difficult time for them. I agree with Kim above, the tabloids and paparazzi should have their lives exploited.

5I think it’s horrible enough that he has left this life. And the people who are hurting and grieving is his family and friends. The media is hurting the them more than thrilling the public. The man is gone, the family is left to pick up the pieces. I for one am not thrilled by the stories at all. My prayers go out to the people who were close to him and who loved him.
I don’t think the video should be show at all, anywhere.

6Ok wait, he’s TALKING to someone about what he USED to do and this is news? Then they cut to someone else snorting what looks like coke and they’re trying to tie that to him? I don’t usually call for a boycott, but I can guarantee that I will NEVER watch ET or The Insider again. Ugh!

7This is horrible. What kind of company would do this? I heard that in the video he NEVER DOES ANY DRUGS…and even says that he got a M for Matilda to remind him to NEVER DO DRUGS!!! Why cant he just rest in peace? His family and friends are grieving and the media is making him look like this horrible drug addict. No one knows what went on in his house that day and they never will so they should stop Assuming because they just look like ASSES in the end. I agree with Gina I wont ever watch ET or Insider again

8Tabloids should leave his family alone. Let them grieve in piece! Every mag has a headline ‘Heath’s battle with drugs’. What actor in Hollywood hasnt tried drugs! It was a terrible accident and the tabloids are trying to exploit it for profit.. It’s disgusting!!

9These tabloid people should get a different life, instead of alway’s tring to crush everyone else’s life!! How would the feel if people were all up in their sh*t?! He was still a person just like everyone else, just with a tremendous amount of talent!! So he did some drugs…. so what!!! It’s not like he was pulling a britney!! Let his family grieve in peace without all the false and unsupported alligations going around!! What good does it do anyway?! Your just adding to the pain that is already there. Hope someday the tables turn on them!!!
