Haylie Duff went to the packie… I don’t know if people in other parts of the country refer to a liquor store as a “packie” but that’s what we folks up here say… She looks better in sunglasses, doesn’t she?
Dana, love you, but you should alter this post as soon as possible. “Packie” is a very derogatory and racist term (used mostly in Britain and parts of Europe) to refer to a lower class person of middle eastern descent (comes from Pakistani).
Well if you read my post it clearly explains what the “packie” is and it has nothing to do with any race of people… anyone who would assume I was being racist by referring to a “package store” as a “packie” is ridiculous…
Ya never know though, there are some people who look for anything they can take out of context for the sake of making a stink… but those people are ignorant and annoying anyway… so I’ll risk it.
I never heard of Packie either, but I agree with GradGirl, it does seem to make fun of Pakistanians because they make up the majority of liquor store owners. And Package Store? Nope, never heard of that term either, conveinence store, yes.
You know, she looks like Lindsey Lohans mom with these glasses on and the stupid look on her mug
OK GradGirl and Heather, you are both completely not getting it… and Heather, I hate to break it to you, but YOUR COMMENT IS COMPLETELY STEREOTYPING PAKISTANI PEOPLE!!! It’s funny how you’re telling me to remove my racist comment that isn’t even racist and then you make a complete generalization about Pakistanis owning the majority of convenience stores.
People CRACK ME UP when they try to act all high and mighty and smart and end up sounding stupid.
My calling the store a packie has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH PAKISTANI PEOPLE, or any other race of people for that matter. Packie is short for “package” kind of like how Danny is short for Daniel or TV is short for television… It has nothing to do with who owns the stores!!
I Googled “Package store” and this is what comes up – on Wikipedia… just so you know I’m not that dumb.
Thanks.
